An allergy is an immune system reaction that occurs when the body mistakenly identifies a normally harmless substance as a threat. These substances, known as allergens, can include dust, pollen, certain foods, animal dander, insect bites, medicines and some chemicals.
Cold – A common upper respiratory infection causing runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion and mild throat irritation. Usually acute and often associated with viral infection or environmental exposure.
Cough – May be dry or productive and can occur due to infection, allergy, asthma or airway irritation. Persistent or blood-stained cough requires proper medical evaluation.
Asthma – A chronic airway condition characterized by recurrent wheezing, cough, chest tightness and breathing difficulty. Symptoms may worsen with allergens, exercise, cold air or respiratory infections.
Sinusitis – Inflammation or infection of the sinuses causing facial pressure, headache, nasal blockage and nasal discharge. Acute and chronic forms can occur.
Allergic Rhinitis – An allergic condition commonly producing repeated sneezing, watery nasal discharge, itching and nasal blockage. Dust, pollen, smoke and other allergens may trigger symptoms.
Tonsillitis – Inflammation of the tonsils causing sore throat, difficulty swallowing and sometimes fever.
Bronchitis – Inflammation of the bronchial airways, commonly causing persistent cough with or without mucus.
